Recently I was looking for a poem/song that I’d written earlier and wanted to share with a minister, singer-songwriter, friend of mine that also happens to be my nephew. While looking for it, I stumbled upon another poem that I’d forgotten all about. I remembered starting this one, but had forgotten that I’d finished this much of it. When I open the file I was pleasantly surprised.
As I often say I do not consider myself a poet or a songwriter, but I do enjoy writing both when inspired to do so. I don’t remember what was going on the day I wrote this or if I had a person in mind on that day. Ultimately, now may be the when and this may be the what, that it was for. I hope you enjoy it and are blessed by it.
The Glimpse
Though the battle still rages
and casualties mount
And wayside is strewn
With too many to count
Then off in the distance
A glorious shout
As courage and strength
Turns the battle about
Yes the battle seemed over
Hope all but lost
Till off in the distance
a glimpse of the Cross
But not the Cross only
This hope to us gave
But to know our dear Savior
Arose from that Grave
And though we march forward
Our hearts to Him give
Because of Mount Calvary
We now truly live.
God bless you richly
